Battle Creek
Our Experience at Battle Creek

Battle Creek Falls was an awesome way to spend a fall afternoon. The hike is short and easy, and it leads to a beautiful waterfall. The trail makes its way up the canyon alongside Battle Creek. Early on in the hike, there is a small area where the creek pools before continuing down the mountain. Turns out this is a great place to let your dogs and kids cool off on a hot afternoon. If you want to continue hiking past the waterfall, the trail does continue for several miles, eventually leading you to Dry Canyon.

To make the trip a little more adventurous, we decided to rappel down the waterfall a few times while we were up there. The rappel is perfect practice for those prepping to do some canyoneering. There are 3 bolts located on the rocks on the other side of the trail from the waterfall for your rope. Although the waterfall is only 50 feet tall, the location of the bolts does add another 15-20 feet to the rappel. So be sure your rope is long enough, and then enjoy your descent! The cool water sprays you on your way down, so we would definitely recommend doing this on a warm day.

Battle Creek Falls is definitely a family friendly hike. If you’re looking for a short, fun hike to spend part of your day in, this could be the one!
