Fifth Water Hot Springs
Our Experience at Fifth Water Hot Springs

I have made multiple trips up to the Fifth Water Hot Springs throughout the years and have always had a great time. The hike is about 2.5 miles up the canyon that takes you along a gorgeous river ending with a 3 or 4 natural hot spring baths.

To get to the trailhead, take exit 258 on I-15 and head around 11 miles south into Spanish Fork Canyon. On the north side of the road you will find a turnoff that will take you into Diamond Fork Canyon. Follow this road into the canyon for a while, the road will get pretty skinny but your going the right way. Keep an eye out for a sign that says Three Forks Trail Head on the right side of the road where you will turn, cross a bridge and then you’ll be at the parking lot.

A sign that reads “Third Water Trailhead” marks the beginning of the hike. When your ready to start hiking walk through the gate next to the bathroom and follow the trail. The amount of people that head up to the springs as made the trail wide and relatively flat and follows Third Water Creek the entire way up the canyon. The hike is good for all ages but does take around 40 minutes to an hour depending on how fast you hike, so be sure to bring at least 1 bottle of water.

I guess I should mention that there are a couple of spots where the trail splits up, you can choose which ever path you want to take because they will all eventually merge back together. Eventually you will have to cross a bridge, I would guess that this is about the halfway point.

If you’re looking to camp there are some awesome spots to throw up a tent or a hammock. The best spot is probably 5 or 10 minutes away from the hot springs themselves but are sometimes taken by other campers.

After hiking the 2.5 miles you will know you made it to the springs by the nasty smell and the beautiful waterfall that sits right above them. There are around 3 or 4 different baths all varying in heat depending on the amount of water in them. Choose your pond, bust out whatever drinks and snacks you brought with you, then sit back and relax.
